Story of the Knudsen Brand

1919Tom Knudsen, in partnership with his brother Carl, establish Knudsen Creamery Co. and begin manufacturing and distributing dairy products. Operations start in a two-story building on South Santee Street in Los Angeles with three employees, a second-hand delivery truck and used machinery.

1927KNUDSEN grows by opening a plant in Visalia, CA

1959KNUDSEN expands further by opening another facility in Tulare, CA

1975KNUDSEN products become available in seven additional western states: Washington, Oregon, Utah, Idaho, Colorado and Alaska.

1989KNUDSEN Nice n’ Light light sour cream and nonfat cottage cheese are introduced.

1995KNUDSEN Free fat free cottage cheese and fat free sour cream are introduced.

1998KNUDSEN COTTAGE DOUBLES low fat cottage cheese & topping is introduced in 3 flavors: Strawberry, Peach and Pineapple.

2000KNUDSEN On the Go! single-serve cup 4-pack of low fat cottage cheese is introduced.

2007KNUDSEN LIVEACTIVE cottage cheese for digestive health with prebiotic fiber is introduced.
