About the Singers

Carolyn Jeanette Stein

Mezzo soprano Carolyn Jeanette Stein created the title role in the U.S. Premiere of Silla by G.F. Handel and was a 2010 Pine Mountain Music Festival Resident Artist. Carolyn holds a Masters degree from the New England Conservatory, and has studied at the Manhattan School of Music and the Salzburg Mozarteum. Ms. Stein has performed numerous roles with the Boston Lyric Opera and Opera Boston companies.

Colin Levin

In 2012, baritone Colin Levin will be performing the East Coast premier of Jake Heggie's baritone song cycle For a Look or a Touch at the New England Conservatory's Jordan Hall. He recently covered the title role in Hindemith's Cardillac with Opera Boston and made his debut as soloist with the Caramoor International Music Festival in the summer of 2010.

Glorivy Arroyo

Recently praised as "a stand-out inhabiting her character with total commitment and passion" by The Boston Globe, mezzo soprano Glorivy Arroyo is a frequent performer with Opera Boston, recently seen as Francisca in Maria Padilla and Roggiero in Tancredi. She returns next season as She-Ancient in Tippett's rarely performed The Midsummer Marriage. Her current season includes: Marva in Heart of a Dog with Guerilla Opera and Eleanore in Salieri's First the Music, then the Words at First Night Boston, and many more.

Graham Wright

Baritone Graham Wright regularly performs as a soloist with major musical organizations from New England through the Southeast, including appearances with Opera Boston, Boston Lyric Opera, the Charlotte Symphony Orchestra, and the Boston Pops. Graham has appeared as title characters in Gianni Schicchi, Don Giovanni, The Marriage of Figaro and Dido and Aeneas.

Jonas Budris

Tenor Jonas Budris is a versatile artist with experience in opera, oratorio, musical theater and jazz. He recently sang the title roles of Candide (Bernstein) with Lowell House Opera; Bastien & Bastienne (Mozart) with Opera del West; and will sing in Bacchus et Erigone (Mondonville) for the Boston Early Music Festival. He also performs regularly with Opera Boston.


Kimberly Soby

A recent graduate of New England Conservatory with dual Masters degrees in Vocal Performance and Opera Studies, soprano Kimberly Soby has performed a number of roles at NEC and with Opera Boston, including: Susanna in Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro; Monica in Menotti's The Medium; Iza in La Grande-Duchesse de GŽrolstein and the title character in Seymour Barab's Little Red Riding Hood.

Sol Kim Bentley

Two-time Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions regional finalist Sol Kim Bentley recently received wide acclaim for "put[ting] her ample soprano voice to sure dramatic use" (The Financial Times) and "singing with impressive urgency and directness" (The Boston Globe) in her portrayal of Cardillac's Daughter in the New England premiere of Hindemith's Cardillac for Opera Boston. In May of 2011, she will understudy the title role in Opera Boston's production of Donizetti's Maria Padilla in addition to appearing as Bianca di Francia.

Brendan Buckley

Massachusetts native Brendan Buckley is at home in both classical and contemporary roles, having performed in such roles as Tamino in The Magic Flute with MetroWest Opera and premiered new roles such as Dr. Singleton in We Are Sons with Guerilla Opera. Brendan holds a Masters Degree in Voice Performance and Pedagogy from Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelors from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
